Shooting range

New Shooting Range & Gun Shop

www.diffcal.co.uk

Our shop has now moved to 7 Dunhams court, Letchworth. Just off Works road. The range is still being built, although the shop is now open. We are awaiting new stock and still unpacking so please bear with us while we get settled.

This is a huge facility for Letchworth. We should have the range open in about a week or so. (end of May)

To answer some questions we have had about it:

1. Will the current shop be moving?
Yes, our shop in the Wynd will be closing and a larger one will be opening attached to the shooting range which will be located at Dunham's Court, about 5 minutes up the road from where we are now.

2. Will you allow firearms?
No. This is going to be for airguns, air pistols and archery only. We may at a later date allow 'FAC' rated airguns in, but to begin with it will only be non-licensed airguns.

3. Is this a club? Do we need membership?
No. Simply turn up, pay and play! (although on your first visit you will need to register, sign some forms and have a safety briefing).

4. What are the age limits?
Over 18's only on their own. Otherwise any age is allowed in provided that they are supervised by someone over 21 years of age. (Max of 2 children per supervisor). We will also be offering birthday parties etc.

5. Costs?
£10 an hour per person. There will be a pricing structure for adults wishing to bring in children to shoot and tuition/private groups and parties.

6. Do I need my own gun?
No, we will have guns available for hire for around £5 per session.

7. Can groups use the range?
Yes we are happy for Schools and Scout groups etc to use the range, we can arrange discount range fees for these and you are welcome to use you own instructors provided they have a relevant qualification and insurance in place. We can also book out our social/meeting area for private use if needed.

8. Do you offer instruction?
Yes for all of the activities, we are happy for novices to come and have a go. We intend to have a family friendly atmosphere where anyone can come and have fun.

9.Archery?
Yes, there will be some archery lanes available which we are happy for you to use crossbows on as well. We may increase the number depending on demand.

10. Can you fill guns?
Yes. All of the usual things we do currently will be available including repairs and tuning.

11. What about refreshments and toilets etc?
We are fitting out a small social area upstairs with coffee machines etc and there are toilets on site.

12. What will your opening times be?
 Mon-Sat 9.30am until 8pm, Sun 10am-5pm

13. What shooting disciplines will there be available?
We intend to have mulitple 'plinking' targets out on the range along with paper target holders for those that wish to be more serious. We will not at this time be putting in a 'return' system, there will be stoppage called for changing the paper targets over. The area is going to be split into several sections, a large 30yard range, a 10m range and a pistol 'box' range.

14. Is there free parking?
Yes we have free parking outside the building for up to 20 cars at a time, otherwise there are plenty of car parks nearby.

15. Other activities in the future?
We are intending to be running a number of outdoor shooting courses for pest control and hunting along with bush-craft and survival skills courses. These will be ready to book by the summer.

16. Are you still selling shotguns and rifles?
Yes, but our main focus now will be airguns. We are able to order most guns from most manufacuters however we want to expand our airgun stock level and not our firearms and shotguns. Having a bigger shop will mean we can offer an even greater number of different manufacturers models.

The building is a bit bigger than our current one!

    1. We need to test out our backstops etc first to see if they will handle BB richochets... in principle yes, but it depends on our risk management team deciding what is appropriate. Will post on our website as soon as we know.
